My dads name was Jeffrey Matthew Silvas. He was born in Fresno in 1955. He was adopted by his parents Bernard Manuel Silvas and Helen Silvas. They were heavily involved with the Scouts and my dad was an eagle scout in Fresno where he grew up. Bernard had a brother Frederick Roland and a sister Delores. My fathers siblings were John and Jayne Silvas, also adopted. Frederick was born in San Francisco, both Bernard and Frederick served in WW2, Bernard in the Marines as Frederick in the Air Corps, earning the the distinguished flying cross twice. The parents of Frederick and Bernard were Fred John Silvas and Myrle Mae Waldron Silvas. From what I understand, my original surname was Silva but at some point the "S" was added. We are supposedly of Portuguese ancestry but I have hit a road block in my research. If anyone has any information, it would be appreciated.
