Are you related to, or do you have info. on, Silveiras from Manadas, sao Jorge?
Those are my people and i visited there a few years ago. I found one elderly cousin. she lives down the road from the house where my Grandmother and Greatgrandmother were born. Marie Silveira (Pimentel) was my grandmother; Rosa Silveira was my Greatgrandmother. she married her cousin, Armando Silveira, so her married name was the same as her maiden name. Her mother was a school teacher there. they had an uncle or some relative who was a blind cook on a sailing ship. Ever heard any stories similar to this? The old house is still standing where my Avoa was born. a little creek runs in front of it. it is at the top of a little lane. I am told that all the people living on that lane are Silveiras, all related to me. But apparently they aren't all on speaking terms. that sounds like Silveiras to me too, based on my family experiences. LOL
I hope you have some info. related to my family roots.
I am also trying to find out the names of all 7 villages on the Island of Flores. That is where my GreatGrandFather, John Pimentel, was from. Any help on that would be much appreciated. I plan to visit Flores on my next trip to the Azores.
take care
