Dear David,
Many apologies for not replying sooner. Your message is very interesting indeed! The Sime who has connections with my family is buried in Cupar cemetry. His name is David F. Sime and the dates are 1874 - 1946. He was married to Jean. But my older relations tell me that they did not have children. He could still be a great-uncle, or probably more distant, relation to you. My father always referred to him as a great-uncle. Please note : my father was born in Dysart.(1910) Surely there is a connection - how many Simes were there in Dysart?!
Have you looked into things further yet? I know there is still the matter of the earlierDavid Sime of the Fifeshire Volunteers.
Looking forward to your reply,
Allan Fraser.
