Thank you so much for your reply, Ellen. It sure can get confusing. I've been working on this for about 15 years in my spare time. I have all kinds on info on Simonds / Symonds. I started with the the info which my great aunt had from back in early 1900s, and also books and records which I've purchased from Mass. and Vermont.Some books tell me that Elijah (born 1740) was a son of William Simonds from Shirley, mass. The William that fits in with the approx. birth and death dates, was not married according to other records. There was several Josephs earlier, and I do have info on them going back in time. I still need to know who Elijah's father and grandfather was. Thanks again so much.
