I believe the information about John Simonds, brother of Samuel Darby Simonds, came from a Family Treemaker Family Tree. I will have to check to see which one. I found it believable (not having any other information on John or his family) because my information on Samuel is that he died on the way to the Gold Rush/Mexico. It made sense that he might have been enroute to New Mexico possibly to find out what happened to his brothers. As I remember, that Family Tree also showed another brother who died on the same day in Collinsville.
