In Reply to: WILLIAM SIMONDS OF ALEXANDRIA NEW HAMPSHIRE 1780 by Vicky Simonds of 584

There was a William Simonds born March 6, 1761 in Woburn to Benjamin and Susanna Simonds. But he died April 9, 1776
Woburn Vital Records:

Will you entertain the possibility that the father of Robert Simonds Sr. of Alexandria N.H. was not named William Simonds? I have found a Robert Simonds that was born in Woburn April 13th, 1780 to (unnamed father) and Kezia Simonds (see same page in Woburn V.R. as above). The child's full name is listed as Robert Douglas Simonds. The 'Douglas' named for Robert Douglass Jr., the man she named in her paternity suit.

I found no more mention of Robert Douglas Simonds in Woburn's VR. There is then a possibility that this child was sent away from Woburn to live with Simonds relatives in Alexandria N.H., and that his parental and geographical origins were intentionally muddled.

Just a theory of course. You're looking to know more about Robert Simonds' father. I'm looking to know the fate of Robert Douglas Simonds. Who knows? It could turn out they are very closely related.

In any event, I wish you the best of luck and satisfying discoveries!
