In Reply to: Husband of Dorothy Harlakenden- Will or Sam by Thomas SANFORD of 584

There is a lot of obvious errors in trees posted, like a son who is born before the listed mother... I haven't yet tracked down all the documentation but this is what I have sorted out:
Dorothy Harlakenden is the daughter of Thomas Harlakenden & Dorothy Cheney (Cheyne, Chaney, de Chene, etc.), was christened 12 Dec 1596 in Earls Colne, Essex, England.
She was the first wife of Lt Gov Samuel Symonds, married
2 APR 1617 in Toppesfield, Essex, England. She died 3 Aug 1636.(He married Martha Reade 2nd & Rebecca Swayne 3rd.) They had a son William, b. 1632, d.22 May 1679. Dorothy had only the one marriage, becoming pregnant at 21 and died soon after the birth of her last, nr. 12, Sarah - so no other marriages.

The William Simonds born on or before 1612 does not appear to be closely related to Samuel Symonds in that he is from Hampshire, not Essex., and in any case could not be Dorothy's husband.

Errors are copied and pasted, apparently without reading, so good luck, read carefully. :-)
