Hi Cass,
Have you gotten any further back than Cornelius of 1850 yet? I am looking for Mary Simonson (NJ) b.1793 d. aft 1880 & married John Slover b. 1790? d. 1840-1850. I wrote to the Kingston Presbeyterian - the only records they have is their marriage in 1822, no parents were listed. However the LDS does show her baptism in 1793, apparently this information was in the system before the fire. Any further records back were burned in a fire. So I guess I do not have a chance of getting any further back on her side? Someone told me that the Simonson's were the family that introduced the Slovers & Fouratts (also spelled as Faurot) into the steam boat business. The very early Simonsons married into the Vanderbilt family - that is how, maybe, they were connected to boating. Susan Slover married George W. Fouratt (he was a steam boat captain in NJ.) Susan was one of Mary Simonson's daughters. It is a pretty good guess that Mary hailed from the New Jersey Simonsons, although all of them started out in New York.

Do you have anyone in your information who might fit into this profile? Thanks for any help you can give me.

Best regards,

Diane
