Passengers on the Fortune - arrived in Plymouth after 1st Thanksgiving
Added by JoAnnHadden67 on 7 Jun 2008
Passenger List, ship Fortune, 1621

The ship Fortune arrived at Plymouth on November 9, 1621, just a few weeks after the First Thanksgiving. This passenger list is based on the 1623 Division of Land, the passenger list compiled by Charles Edward Banks in Planters of the Commonwealth, by material published occasionally by Robert S. Wakefield in the Mayflower Quarterly, and by the information found in Eugene Aubrey Stratton's Plymouth Colony: Its History and Its People, 1620-1691. The author is descended from Fortune passengers John Adams, William Bassett, and Moses Simmons.

Moses Simmons nee Simonson (Symonson)
Added by GregIrvin on 12 Oct 2008

Son of Moses SIMMONS (1570-) and Lydia HOLLAND (1574-)

He and his father, who was born in Leyden, Holland, came from England to Plymouth on the "Fortune" in 1621.

His father's name was originally Symonson or Simonson but he shortened it to Simmons early in his life.

Moses Simmons died in 1689. By his wife Sarah he had John, Aaron, Mary, Elizabeth, and Sarah.

b. 1 JAN 1604, England

r. 1621, Plymouth, MA

r. 1637, Duxbury, MA

d. 15 SEP 1691, Duxbury, MA

Married Sarah CHANDLER (1616-1675)

Note that "Mayflower Families In Progress" series' volume on "George

Soule of the Mayflower and His Descendants for Four Generations", 2nd

ed., published by The General Society of Mayflower Descendants in 1995,

identifies a Sarah Chandler as 2nd wife of Moses Soule, Moses Simmon's

grandson. There may be some confusion here.
