Regarding Merrit Byron SIMRELL i dont have any direct info, just some clues which may be helpful.William SIMRELL was a pioneer settler of Scott twsp, PA., having moved from Orange County NY. William SIMRELL and wife Bethia OWENS had atleast the following children:
1. Christiana b. 1776; d. 1859; m. Jesse GARDNER
2. Nathaniel b. 1788; d. 1860; m. Lydia WALL
3. Sarah b. 1790; d. 1867; m. John WETHERBY
4. Eleanor b. 1793; d.1865; m. Nathaniel FINCH
5. Thomas
6. William
I have children for Christiana, Nathaniel, Sarah and Eleanor.Nathaniel doesnt show having a son Merrit, so I would venture a guess that Merrit is son of either Thomas or William.I have info that states when William SIMRELL died in 1814 he left two sons, William and Nathaniel---no mention of Thomas. So best avenue to follow is William SIMRELL.
Regarding Clarence B. SIMRELL I have just a quick bit of info--he is mentioned in the 1890 records for the Scott Valley Baptist Church.
Most of the above info is from short "Simrell Family History" sheets that a fellow researcher had collected from the Lackawanna Historical Society.
In closing--Im related to SIMRELL family through above mentioned Christiana SIMRELL who married Jesse GARDNER.
