Georgia Sirman (s) / Sirmon (s) Descendants ( Benjamin or Josiah )
Hello all!I am greatly in need of help. I have traced my ancestry back to Clinch County, GA to Prince Sirm*n b. @1825.He was likely a slave who was owned by one of the Clinch County Sirm*n's.The 1870 census records suggest that Prince and his family may have lived near Josiah Sirm*n (b@1817), however, according to the 1860 Slave Schedule, Josiah did not own a slave that would have been the age of Prince at that time.Benjamin (Benj) Sirm*n did.My assumption (based on property value in 1860) is that this would be the Benjamin (Benj) Sirm*n b. @1792-4 and not Benj E. Sirm*n, but I am not sure. Are there any Benjamin Sirm*n descendants out there who might know of family records such as a ledger containing slave names or other documents that would indicate where Prince might have been purchased? The census records note that Prince was born in South Carolina. This leads me to believe he was not born on a Sirm*n farm as the census records show only one Sirm*n in SC between 1820 and 1830 (Aaron Serman) and he owned only 1 female slave who was over 45 years old in 1820.This is where I come to a dead end in my search. My family would greatly appreciate any assistance you might be able to provide in our attempt to learn of our heritage.
