Good morning Cindy,

A few Sketches of the History of the American Branch of the Sisemore (not Sizemore) Family by Isaac Emory Sisemore, second paragraph, makes reference to William Benjamin Franklin ‘Ben” Sizemore, his uncle. Do you have any family history information about John Floyd and Margaret Potter Sizemore? Also, any family history information about Ben Sizemore, Isaac’s uncle?

Thank you for your time and any information I may receive.

Johnny L.T.N. Potter

A few Sketches of the History of the American Branch of the Sisemore (not Sizemore) Family
by Isaac Emory Sisemore
Written, June 1968, revised 1970 and 1973

Two of the brothers went south to the Carolinas, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, etc. Of this branch came our (my) father John F. Sisemore, later of Denton, Texas and later of Hulen, Comanche Oklahoma territory. One of the three is said to have married in the Cherokee Indian tribe. (There are some supposed to be FULL BLOOD Cherokee Sisemores in Kentucky and the Carolinas.) Blue eyed Indians. No one seems to know of which of the original Welch Sisemore brothers came the Indians. One of the uncles of our father tried to prove his Indian decent in order to claim lands. Uncle Ben Sisemore born in Georgia. He said it could be done but it cost too much money which he didn’t have. He was a Baptist preacher living and preaching in north Texas for 50 years. He, Ben Sisemore was a brother to our father’s father, Jim Henry Sisemore of Alabama.
