Frequently the name Bernsar/Bernzar Skelton shows up. It may have been a nickname. His actual name was Barnes R Skelton. His aunt Martha (Patsy) Skelton married Barnes Reavis on 20 May, 1823 which is possibly the source of the name Barnes and perhaps the R. I hesitate to post this supposition because, once posted, it tends to become "fact'.
Per DB Montgomery, The Montgomerys and Their Descendants page 251 his name was Barnes and he was born in 1829. The 1850 census would indicate an 1827 birthdate. The photo of the tombstone seems to provide conclusive proof of his vital dates. He married Lucinda Mauck 16 Dec 1851. She was the daughter of Abraham Mauck and Maria Gambrel. They had two children. Nancy J Skelton bn abt 1852 and Elizabeth Skelton bn abt 1854.
After the death of Barnes, Lucinda married Larkin Price Forbis They had at least 7 children: Barnes bn abt 1858; Marian or Maria bn abt 1861(female); Jane bn abt 1862; Eliza bn abt 1863; Samuel M bn abt 1864; William bn abt 1866; and Thompson bn abt 1868.
