I came upon you request for information about Jabez Skelton which interested me because I am descended from his brother William b1800, through my mother.We have known about a branch of the Australian Skeltons for some while as my Grandfather answered a request in the paper by Walter Skelton a descendant of John who was trying to trace relatives in England. They corresponded for years as did my grandmother when he died and I too wrote to him as a girl, finally visiting him in 1975 on my way to NZ where I now live.I met several relatives most of whom are now dead,Walter included. He was a Methodist minister, founded Eventide Homes and was awarded an MBE. He bore a striking similarity to my Grandfather.I still correspond with a cousin of Walter's who is over 90.A cousin of mine has done extensive research and his web site is: www.bradshaw32.plus.com We know quite a lot about William as he was a Baptist minister and left memoirs.
