I have all the Skelton files of the late Col.
George Byers. The oldest known Skelton relatives
of Col. Byers are William (b. ca. 1743) and Sarah
his wife. Sarah's maiden name and the parentage of
William are both unknown. There is no known
connection between John Skelton of Mecklenburg Co.,
VA and the line of Col. Byers. However, descendant
lines from both families are well established.
