It's simple. That the actor John Wilkes Booth and Tad Lincoln were cousins. If you look at pictures of Tad Lincoln and John Wilkes Booth, they look alike. I believe John Hay was also a cousin. John Hay's grandson John Hay Whitney was known to be connected to Hollywood and the Booth family of Hollywood.
I have solid records that a Booth family were married into the Clarks of William Clarks sister Ann Clark. The only real issue is if the Booth family of Ann Clark are the same Booth family of John Wilkes Booth. I believe they are.
Ann Clark married Owen Gwathmey. Their three children John, Samuel and Ann Gwathmey married three children of Col William Booth and his wife Rebecca Hite. They were named Ann, Mary and William Booth.
Paul Skidmore I believe married another daughter of Ann Clark and Owen Gwathmey.
