Father died when he was about 6 and he then lived with Richard Williams, Sen. who was probably a kinsman. he is mentioned in William's will and listed with others as "cousins" Only Henry's son Thomas remained in Delaware. His other 3 children moved to North Carolina.

Hodges of the First Battalion of Kentucky Rangers. 14 Jan. 1994 a warrant was issued to pay the men stations in 1793 "on the frontiers of Madison Co. under the command of Sergt. Thomas Skidmore"

Buried on his farm in Biardstown. Served in the West Tenn. Militia in the War of 1812. Enlised 13 Nov. 1814 n company of Capt. Andrew Patterson under command of Colonel Metcalf. Discharged 13 May 1815
Moted by 1818 to Morgan Co. AL w/his brothers. Appointed administrator in Morgan Co. 20 Apr. 1827
Arrived in Lamar Co., TX in March 1836 & settled 12 miles south of Paris on "Skimore's Prairie" w/ land grant for 1280 acres. Family joined him 1 May 1838. Census 1850 of Lamar Co. shows real property worth $15,138. July 1854 was head of a household in Lamar Co. that included two "scholastics".
