I have more information about my father's birth mother after getting his records unsealed. His biological mother's name is/was Iradelle (Ira) Skidmore. She was born March 21, 1925 in Russellville, Franklin County, Alabama. Her parents were James Zollie Skidmore and Hettie Jones Skidmore of Franklin County, Alabama (before they moved to Michigan). She was 22 years old when she gave birth to him and he was given up the day he was born. My dad was born on October 20, 1947 in a Salvation Army Hospital in Jefferson County, Alabama. The name listed on his birth certificate is James Terry Skidmore. The father's name is not listed. I have done some research to find out that Hettie died in 2006 and also that Iradelle (Ira) was still single in 1977 and living in Michigan. I can not find any other information on her. It is like she just disappeared. It appears, from my research...if it is correct...that Ira may still be living and have a few brothers that are still alive as well that are in Michigan...Hurley (b. 1921), Thomas (b. 1922) and Jay Zollie (b. 1935) who married Alice Kuykendal. If anyone has ANY information about Iradelle or her family (which could possibly be my biological great uncles and my biological grandmother), I would certainly appreciate anything that you have to offer. Her brothers appear to be living in Michigan. I would like to learn more about them and possibly make contact, but only if they are pressure. Basically, I would like to know where I come from and where my family tree leads. I do have some phone numbers but I would like to try this forum first. Thanks in advance! Misty P.S. Hope my research is correct because I have been trying to figure out this mystery for quite some time. :-)
