Hi Rob! I have traced my Skiff line to Middlebury, VT. I'm having trouble tracing anyone before this. here's what I've got:
My mother, Barbara Skiff, is the daughter of Isaac Skiff. Isaac's father was Alfred and Alfred (b. 1899) was the son of William. The next generation I don't have yet, but Alfred's grandfather was also Alfred. Alfred served in the Civil War. He enlisted in 5/1861 in VT, listing his home as Middlebury, and served as a private in Company I Unit 1 Infantry. 9/1861 he re-enlisted in NY and was a Lt. in NY Company E 60th Infantry. After the Civil War he settled in northern NY. Hope this helps. Jaimie
