I descend from James Skiffe through his son Nathan, who married (1) Hepsibah Codman (my ancestor) and (2) Mercy Chipman). All my info is from Banks History of Martha's Vineyard. Banks had James married twice - to Margaret Reaves and (2) to Mary. Banks showed nine children for James, but did not know which wife any of the children belonged to. I have also been looking for information on James and wives.
If you haven't seen Banks work, let me know and I'll send what I have. There also is a reference to James Skiffe in: King, H. Roger, "Cape Cod and Plymouth Colony in the Seventeenth Century." James is mentioned in a discussion of public offices in local government. The book notes than Sandwich had high participation in government by the males of the community. "Some men like Thomas Burgess and James Skiffe served in every single one." [office].
Banks shows Elisha Bourne b. 26 Oct. 1675 Sandwich, MA. Another work, "Records of the Colony of New Plymouth in New England: Miscellaneous Records, 1633-1689," reprinted with " Plymouth Colony Vital Records," 1857, shows Patience Skiffe b. 25 Mar 1652, dau of James Skiffe (ca 1610-1687), mother unknown.
