Hi Andrew,

You sound very knowledgeable about the SKILBECK name. My ggggrandfather came from Yorkshire, England. Where in Yorkshire I do not know. His name was Joseph B. SKILBECK b. July 22, 1812. He was the youngest of 7 children. The only story that I know about him is that he did an apprenticeship as a shoemaker much against the wishes of his parents. He finished his apprenticeship and moved to the USA at the age of 17. Will you please mention this to any of your SKILBECK relatives and see if it rings a bell with any of them. The fact that his parents were against him becoming a shoemaker may help.

Thank you,

Sandie
