I have the following person in my tree who I am directly decended from which has now become my 'block'.Any help would be most appreciated.
John George Funge Slade b. 1844 d.1932 married a Mary Ann (surname unknown) d.1929 and had 3 children, Elizabeth Funge Slade b. 1867 (Sheerness), Mary Ann b. 1872(Plumstead) and Daisy b. 1887.
I have found John and his family on the 1871, 1881, 1891 and 1901 census' but can not find any earlier information and can find no birth certificates for any of his family.I do have the death certificate for John and Mary Ann but cannot find a marriage for them.I have come across a John on the 1861 census as being in the Navy but I dont believe this is him.
I am trying to find out who his parents were and whether he had any siblings. Also what meaning the name Funge had as his daughter Elizabeth would always say how proud she was to use the prefix Funge and that she was the only one left to use it (Elizabeth lived to a very good age and my nan remembers this).
Any information you can provide me would be very useful.
