Fred Slagle
Funeral services for Fred Slagle of Gordo were held at 2 p.m. Feb. 1 [2001] at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Garnett Brown officiating.
He was a retired mechanical engineer, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a lover of hunting and fishing. He died Jan. 29 at the age of 79 at his residence.
Survivors include his wife Grace Free Slagle, Gordo; daughters Karen (John Clayton) Carpenter, Northport, and Shelby Lambert, Reform; sons Roger Frederick (Charlotte) Slagle, Arlington, Tex., and Clay Carlton Slagle, Shreveport, La.; sisters Sara Jane Boucher, Phoenix, Ariz., and Mary Lou Hess, Shreveport, La.; brother Hugh Dan Slagle, Garland, Tex.; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Mickey Lambert, Ricky Lambert, Billy Byars, Chester Parker, Frankie Reynolds and Jimmy Sanders.
Burial was in Double Branch Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing.
