I am asking about the Slagle family on behalf of a dear friend. So far this is basically what I have come up with and am wondering if anyone else is connected with this family:
John Charles Slagle b. 20 Sep 1836 Byron, Germany d. 02 Feb 1882 in Columbus, Franklin Co. Ohio. Married: 01 Apr 1858 in Franklin Co. OH to Mariah Ann O'Harra b. 23 Mar 1843 in Franklin, Franklin Co. OH d. 04 May 1920 Columbus, Franklin Co. OH. They are buried at the Greenwood Cemetery, Columbus, Franklin Co. OH I do not know nor have I found a passenger list for John C. Slagle so if someone can find that I would appreciate that. Then it would give me a time frame to work from. These are the children that was born to John and Mariah:
1. Clara Slagle b.30 Dec 1860 Columbus, Franklin, Ohio, USA d. 07 May 1908 Columbus, Franklin, Ohio, USA buried at Greenwood Cemetery, Columbus, Franklin Co. OH
2. Charles Grant Slagle b.03 Dec 1863 Prairie Twp, Franklin Co. OH d.25 Apr 1948 Marietta, Washington, Ohio, USA Possibly buried at Greenwood Cemetery also. This is my friends ancestor.
Married on 12 Dec 1890 Columbus, Franklin, Ohio, USA
Romi (or Roma) Ina French b. 05 Jun 1866 in Columbus, Franklin, Ohio, USA d.21 May 1944 Columbus, Franklin Co. OH and is also buried Greenwood Cemetery supposedly beside Charles.
3.Mary Slagle b. 1866 Prairie Twp, Franklin Co. OH Don't have any other information on her.It is a possibility that this child died soon after birth?
4. Grundeil Slagle b. 1878 Prairie Twp. Franklin Co. OH Don't have anything on her either. Possibly the same with this child born and then died.
5. Grace Slagle b. 06 Jun 1879 Prairie Twp, Franklin Co. OH . Nothing more on her either.
I have an 1870 census record that states that they are in Prairie Twp, Franklin Co. OH and same goes for the 1880 census. The 1910 census is of Columbus, Franklin Co. OH with Maria and Grace then two roomers. States that she (Mariah) is the mother of 7 with 2 children still living. So that would mean that it would be Charles and Grace that are alive at that time. If she was the mother of 7 children then there are only 5 in the census records that I can come up with, any one have any ideas as to how to find the rest of these children? I have already been to the family search.org and their pilot program and no luck, to Ancestry.com and no luck. Where do I go from here to find them except to the Cemetery which I don't think is on line, it wasn't the last time I looked anyway.
