I would like to exchange information on your Slater, Gilpin County, Colorado data. I am working on the Newlun Line.
According to a follow up on the following Census data:
Census Place: Nevadaville, Gilpin, Colorado
Source: FHL Film 1254090 National Archives Film T9-0090 Page 53C
Thomas NEWLUN Self M MW W
48 OH
Occ: Miner Fa: VA Mo: OH
Casander NEWLUN Wife F M W 38 OH
Occ: Keeping House Fa: OH Mo: OH
Thomas J. NEWLUN Son M S W 7 IL
Fa: OH Mo: OH
Ida NEWLUN Dau F S W 5 IL
Fa: OH Mo: OH
William NEWLUN Son M S W 3 CO
Fa: OH Mo: OH
Nettia NEWLUN Dau F S W 1 CO
Fa: OH Mo: OH
Jesse O. TAYLOR SSon M S W 13 IL
Fa: OH Mo: OH
Rachel TAYLOR SDau F S W 11 IL
Fa: OH Mo: OH
Jesse O. Taylor, step-son of Thomas W. Newlun, son of Casander Hammond Taylor Newlun, marriedCyrenia F. Slater 2/21/1889 in Gilpin, County. A sister, Rachael Taylor married, Christ Paul, 6/29/1887 in Gilpin County. It could be that Jesse and Rachael Taylor could be coincidential in this county, but I don't think so.
Casander was born in Guernsey County, Ohio and supposedly moved to Colorado in 1876. And, supposedly, she was the widow of David Cummins, killed during the civil war.
I am kind of grasping at straws here, but saw a possible connection.Anyway, this data may help other researchers.
Hope to hear from you,
Best regards,
