SLATER - Burton-upon-Trent, STS
I have since confirmed that the Slater's I was tracing to Burton-upon-Trent are mine after finding the following:
http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~spire/Yesterday/SettlementExaminationsC-D.htmhttp://homepages.rootsweb.com/~spire/Yesterday/SettlementExaminationsC-D.htm
Edward SLATER Crich, lab 34 born Higham of parents settled on Burton on Trent. Wife Ann, Thomas, Hannah, John, Edward, Elizabeth. Received relief from Tansley. 1831.
This is most definitely my Edward and Ann (COOPER), my 4th great grandparents and Hannah, their daughter, my 3rd great grandmother.
Not only does this confirm the children I have for Edward and Ann it also confirms that Edward was in fact born in Higham, that the baptism I found for him is the correct one and that the Slater family I traced to
Burton-on-Trent is the right Slater family.
Also, Tansley, is where Edward's mother, Hannah RENSHAW, was born dgt of Joseph RENSHAW and Dorothy ? of Shirland.
If anyone has any information on this particular line I would appreciate it if you could share your information with me.
Take care
