Im looking for any information On Samuel J Slaton born in Georgia probably in Butts county around 1834. I think but am not sure that his father was Cornelius Slaton. The 1850 cenus for 8th dist. of Butts county lists the family being headed up by Sams older brothe Oliver Hazard Perry Slaton who was 18 at the time Sam was 16 & he had a 10 year old sister named Mandane C listed on this census as being part of the home. Two other brothers Henry & Wm are listed as living with a farmer named Harkness & a Grocer named Thompson. Sam married Nancy Nutt. Nancy's mother was Rosannah Harkness& she married William B Nutt. I know that Sam fought in the Civil War & that he fought with a unit from Butts county known as Baileys volunteers. He came home in 1865. Somewhere around 1889 & 1890 the Slatons moved to union Parish where Sam died around 1900.Sam & Nancys daughter Mary Madge is my g-grandmother she married Joseph l Brooks. This is all that i know. I want to know more because I know that there has to be alot more any info or any info on living kin would be great.
