Charlotte Slaten (B. About 1820 in NC)

I am trying to establish who, where and when gggg grandmother Charlotte "Lotty" Slaten married to Burrell Wall, Jr. was. There are many family rumors about her being Cherokee and on the Trail of Tears, however I can not prove or disprove any of them.

Lotty and Burrell had about 5 children (showing 4 in the 1870 census).

I have been told that, to an old woman who couldn't speak the native tongue, her name sounded something like:
Shalaska Obsharski
I have searched the 1835 Census of Cherokees East of the Mississippi and have found some names that may be close to what her great granddaughter may have heard. If anyone can give me documented info or leads as to where to begin a search, I'd be very gratful.

Thank you,
Candi Carter
