Hi, Mr. Domingos,
You posted: my mother was a slaton "maxine cornelia slaton", john thomas slaton was her father,i am trying to trace back as far as i can, j.d.
If you're still looking for this information, I think I can help.
I'm a direct descendant of Augustus Marion Slaton (1830-1865) and his wife Sarah B. Sloan (1829-1885) by their son, Daniel Lavender Slaton (1855-1934) and his wife Ailsey Louvinia Brown (1860-1917).
First I need to determine which of the Slatons you are looking for. John Thomas was the given name of Augustus' oldest son (1852-1925) who was b&d in Kemper County, Miss. (BTW, burned county). This John's first wife was Ann C. Carraway, the second Mary Elizabeth "Roddy" Grantham. No children w/name resembling Maxine Cornelia.
That name Maxine Cornelia is familiar to me, though. Augustus and Sarah had another son, Zachariah Terrell Slaton (1860-1932) who married Frances Cornelia Johnston in Yazoo County, Miss. 23 Dec 1880. He named one of his children (No. 10 out of 12 kids) John Thomas Slaton, clearly after his older brother. I have data on him: born 4 Oct 1898, Yazoo Co., Miss.--died 4 Jan 1926, Yazoo Co., Miss. I have he married Maxie Drucilla Harrell 7 July 1921 (not sure of place). I have no children in my records for them, but your Maxie Cornelia Slaton would surely have to be their daughter. Oh, you may want to know that after the death of John Thomas Slaton, Maxie Harrell remarried to John's brother, Doc Bunch Slaton of Osyka, Miss.
I'd be glad to share what I have (if your hard drive's big enough ;>) ) and would love to have your information for my records as well. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.
