The Death of Abel Cain Slayton

During a recent email exchange with a recently discovered 4th cousin, I heard a family story about the death of Abel Cain Slayton. According to my new cousin, he had heard from the Slayton side of his family that Abel Cain Slayton was murdered while plowing his field in Randolph County, Arkansas. Apparently, Abel Cain did not want his sons fighting in the Civil War, and a group of individuals confronted him on his land and murdered him during this confrontation.

I was wondering if anyone who has also descended from Abel Cain has ever heard this story before and if so could you share what you have heard as well?

Thank you,

Blake Slayton
