VELVA MAE WALLACE DRURY SPECKELS, age 92, a former longtime resident of Houston, died on Sunday, October 14, 2001 in Oklahoma City. Mrs. Speckels, the daughter of Rolland John and Maude Emma Slemp Wallace, was born on April 25, 1909 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She graduated both from high school and Business College in Oklahoma City. Mrs. Speckels retired in 1969 from Great Southern Life Insurance Company after thirty years of service. She was a member of Lake Houston United Methodist Church and the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Eustace Loosley Drury and Edgar Otto Speckels, and by her daughter, Betty Sue Drury Reagan. Mrs. Speckels is survived by her grandchildren, Russ Reagan and wife, Lorrie, Jana Reagan and husband John Harper, and Dana Reagan Dallman and husband, Larry; great grandchildren, Leslie Reagan and Lindsay Reagan; stepson, Jim Speckels; stepdaughter, Diane Speckels Wimberly and husband, Bill, and their son, Steven; and her extended family Joe and Patti Reagan, Stephanie, Drew, and Nicholas, Amanda, James, and Jared, and Mrs. Anna Mae Miller. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, October 18, 2001 in the Chapel of The Settegast-Kopf Co. Funeral Directors, 3320 Kirby Drive, with Rev. John McClung officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
