Keith,

I found Harry Smith's draft registration card for WWI where he lists his middle name as William.

On the 1900 census of Newfield, Tompkins County, New York, I find a Harrie W. Smith living in the household of Frank E and Cora Smith. This Harrie was born in July of 1885. I believe it is your Harry.

On the 1880 census, Frank and Cora are in Horse Heads, Chemung County, New York. There are references on the LDS website that she is Cora Moore. It is undocumented and the dates of Frank's birth do not match the census records. Also the marriage date on the LDS site is after the birth of several of their children. It still may be a clue.

On the 1870 census of Horse Heads, Chemung County, NY is the Orville and Emily Smith household with a son Frank that is of the appropriate age to be the same Frank.

Looking back to the 1850 Census, I find the same household of Orville and Emily Smith with a son Francis E.

Please use the information I have given you as clues. Write to the town clerks in the above mentioned towns for birth marriage and death records.

Best wishes,
Ed Smith
