Hi, Kim:

Although I do not have much info on the Smoot family, I have quite a bit on the Teats. There is evidence in the way of affidavits that were part of an application to the Miller Rolls, that the TEATs were American Indian/Cherokee. The applications were denied, but since the Miller Roll was based in large part on previous rolls - not on who was or was not Indian, ...

Thomas Baner TEAT married Sallie MILLER, who according to the above referenced application was Cherokee.

Their son, Edwin, married Ava GARNER, who was supposedly of mixed blood, and whose brothers were sent on the Trail in 1838.

It is Edwin's daughter, Harriet that married James SMOOT.

Chelie
