Hi Rick, The Gaither line gets very confusing way back there. Actually I am from Benjamin Gaither b. Feb. 1681-82. and Sarah Burgess through their son Edward m. (Eleanor Davis/Whittle, Basil m. Prudence, Jonathan m. Louisa Peek, William Smith Gaither m. Inda Brown, Frank Gaither m. Elizabeth Wittig, Mary m. Paul Dougherty, then myself, Janice Dougherty Stafford.
I do have a question for you about John Gaither/ Ruth Beard who I believe to be the parents of my Benjamin. On the Gaither Genforum site, May 31, 2000 you posted a reply that stated "John Gaither who married Ruth--- had no children, much less sons in 1675." Now the posting you just sent to me from the "Genealogy of Gaither Family of Virginia to Maryland to North Carolina lists 8 children born to John Gaither and Ruth (including my Benjamin).
I've been putting my family line together to send out to all my cousins and I think I may just start with Benjamin. Before that it seems nobody can agree on John I, John II, John III etc. Janice Stafford
