I don't recall seeing those names, but I feel like they must be related. I'm following up on my uncle's research done long before internet. He has our Smoot line as follows:
William Smoot 1596
Thomas Smoot 1634
William Smoot 1656
John Smoot 1707
Alexander Smoot Sr. 1769
Alexander Smoot Jr. 1801
Alexander Neely Smoot 1828
George Franklin Smoot 1863
Georgia Josephine Smoot 1893

I feel like there is a generation missing between Wm and John and maybe between John and Alexander Sr. I have transcribed all his family group sheets onto the computer, but it just feels like something is missing.
