Cindy,

My great grandmother was Mary Ann "Mollie Smoot. She married Ira Case in 1877 in Stephens Co., TX. They then moved to Jack, Young and Baylor counties (same area) in Texas. Census data indicate she was born abt.1862 in AR.

There were several Smoots in that area of TX: Abraham N. Smoot, George Franklin Smoot, Archie B. C. Smoot, etc.

There were several Smoots in Carroll Co. AR in the 1860 census. My Cases were in Marion Co., AR in the 1870 census. Carroll and Marion counties are close to each other, and I thought my Case ancestors may have met some of the Smoots in AR. If they migrated to TX after 1870, maybe that is why Mary Ann Smoot married Ira Case.

Do you know anything about the Smoots that I mentioned, especially Mary Ann "Mollie' Smoot?

Thanks,
Howard
