Thanks for the response. So you are saying there is another generation between John Riley Smoot b. 10 June 1845 and Ira Smoot b. September 1804. Do you show your John Riley Smoot, Sr. having a son John Riley Smoot, Jr?

In the Original Land Grants for Crawford County, Arkansas are listed four grants to Smoot men. The first is to Samuel Smoot in 1831, then two in 1836, one to Samuel and one to Ira Smoot, and the last to Armstead Smoot in 1838. Do you know who this Samuel Smoot was?
