MRS. MINERVA H. FLORA was born November 9th, l849 in Jackson County, Ohio, and died at her home near Davis City, September 22nd, l904, at the age of 54 years l0 months and l2 days.
In l865 she moved with her father, A.A. PATTERSON, from Gallia County, Ohio, to Davis City, Iowa, and was married to MR. J.G. FLORA, December 2nd, l867. To this union were born seven children: EDWARD, MRS. LAURA SNETHEN, LEE, FRANK and GUY, two of the number having died in infancy.
Saturday morning after a short service at her home, the remains were removed to the M.E. Church at Davis City, where an appropriate sermon was delivered by Rev. McKay of Iowa City; interment followed in the Davis City Cemetery. The pall bearers were Carter Scott, J.N. Gates, Lloyd Severe, Dr. J.H. Robinson, J.M. Howell and Chas. Rudibaugh. The casket was covered with beautiful flowers placed there by kind friends as a tribute of love and respect to the departed one.
She was a kind and loving wife, and mother; was dearly loved and respected by all who knew her. Every one did all in their power for her, and it was hard to give her up. Her presence will be greatly missed. She was converted and united with the U.B. Church in l872.
We saw her suffering, heard her sighs,
With throbbing hearts and weeping eyes;
But now she calmly sleeps at last,
All pains, all griefs, all sufferings past.
We loved you, yes, no tongue can tell,
How much we loved you, and how well;
God loved you, too, and he thought best,
To take you home to be at rest.
