PHOTO: 1890 Clara Sneider of Garner

I have a photograph of a group of young people of a place called "Garner". Only one person is identified, "Clara Sneider". She is 17 to 24 years old in the photo. There are 3 women and 3 men in the photograph. The other two women look to be twins. Two of the men look like brothers. The third man might be a brother of Clara as he resembles her. She and he have light hair, the others all have much darker hair. In an attempt to narrow the possible matches for this Clara Sneider, I first used an online county finder to locate all the states with a town called Garner. I then noted the county in each state that had a 'Garner' in it. I then looked up each of these cities, and deleted the ones that did not exist at the time the photo was taken. (it is dated on the back 1890). That left me with 7 states as possibles for this Clara. I then pulled the 1880 Clara Sniders from each state/county where a Garner existed in 1890. Not a single one had a Clara Sneider. I then pulled up the 1880 Clara Sneiders for each state in all counties. From there I deleted all the Clara Sneiders that would be obviously too old or too young in 1890 to be my subject. That left 4 states in the running: 5 in Missouri, 6 in Iowa, 1 in NC, and 1 in Arkansas. The photograph was in the collection of an Oregon family that had brought it there from another state. Missouri, North Carolina and Arkansas all had a lot migrants into Oregon in the 1890s. I looked up the history of the 4 states, and opted for favoring the 1 Clara Sneider located in North Carolina because that area, though it did not become Garner until 1905, was often called Garner by locals in the 1870s and 1880s. If that is here, she would be Clara Sneider b. 1870 daughter of Geroge W. and Elithebeth J. Sneider of Tyro, Davidson Co, North Carolina. It is a shot in the dark. That is as narrow as I can make it. I hope someone can come up with another photo of her to compare so we can match her to her correct records. In the meantime, scans are free. Interested parties can email me or post here.
