Darmstadt State Archives - 1987 research by Anne Sabaric found his
name on record 6320 -
Alsfeld - Leusel. Evangel. Pferrei. He appears to be the adopted son of
Kaspar Schneider, as his real father died when he was young. There is a
copy of the German recording of his marriage to Maria Catharina Scheuer.
For her it lists Alsfeld - Scherabeurod and Pfarei Alsfeld -
Heidelbach. Records also provided her parents' names.
This research also provided copies of the records on the children.
Billertshausen 1832 Emigration record of Johannes Schneider of
Zell/Alsfeld on January, 1832.
They first setttled in Westmoreland County, PA (Greensburg), then in the
fall of 1834, Johann bought land in Ringgold Twp, Jefferson County, PA
where he farmed until his death.
The Punxsutawney Geneaological museum has a copy of THE FAMILY TREE
OF JOHANN & CATHERINE SCHNEIDER which was donated by William L. Snyder,
Jr. in 1996 or 1997.
