Adrian Daily Telegram, Wednesday, April 9, 2008, pg 2A Donald H. Snyder Obit BLISSFIELD — Donald H. Snyder, 92, of Blissfield passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Don was born on July 31, 1915, in Rollin, Mich., the son of Herman and Eleanor (Bancroft) Snyder. On March 7, 1959, he was married to Mary K. (Mowry) Snyder of Toledo, Ohio. She survives. A World War II veteran, Don worked at Gordon Manufacturing in Toledo until he established his own metal finishing plant, Snyder Manufacturing in Blissfield in the 1950s, and later Snyder Woodcraft Co. in Blissfield. An avid gardener, Don always planted not only enough for family, but neighbors and friends. He was an inventor, builder, hunter and the best chocolate chip cookie baker in Blissfield! A lifelong Christian, Don was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Blissfield, where he served as an Elder and enjoyed singing in the church choir. Don was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great.grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Mary K., four daughters, Wyona Snyder of Blissfield, Debra A. Keener of Monroe, Sally D. Van Buren of Dexter, Stacy E. Mattern of Riverview, and one son, Scott W. Snyder of Blissfield. He is also remembered and loved by 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grand children and one great-great-grand child. Preceding him in death were his mother and father, one son, Larry D. Snyder; four brothers, Merlin, Lloyd, the Rev. Elemer Snyder and Richard B. Snyder; and two sisters, Verda Smith and Frances Jay. Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the Tagsold Funeral Home in Blissfield, with the Rev. Bob Bidwell officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery in Blissfield. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to Great Lakes Hospice, or to the First Presbyterian Church of Blissfield. Don’s family would like to thank the nurses and nursing aids at Great Lakes Hospice and Lenawee Department on Aging for the kindness and compassion they showed Don in the preceding months.
