Nicodem Sobolewski Family - Toledo Ohio
There are 1900, 1910, and 1920 U.S. census records for the Nicodem Sobolewski family in Toledo, Lucas County, OH.
The 1900 census is listed on Ancestry.com as “Wiksdem Soboleski” living at #307 Pulaski Street.
The 1910 census is listed on Ancestry.com as “Nicholas Sabolewski” living at #405 Pulaski Street.
The 1920 census is listed on Ancestry.com as “Nicodem??” Sobolewski” living at #405 Pulaski Street.
Nicodem was born in Germany/Poland between 1865 and 1866.He married Rosalia/Rose in 1887, presumably in Germany/Poland.
Rosalia was born in Germany/Poland between 1869 and 1871.She gave birth to ten children of whom, seven survived:“Sissie” born in Germany/Poland in August 1888, Walerya/Valerie born in Germany/Poland in May1891, John born in Ohio in February 1893, Stanislawa born in Ohio in October 1896, Joanna born in Ohio in 1902, and Rose born in Ohio in 1908.
According to the census records, Nicodem, Rosalia, “Sissie” and Waleria immigrated to the U.S. between 1889 and 1898? (probably 1898 should be 1889).
Nicodem held various jobs: in 1900 he was a laborer, in 1910 he was employed as a section man with the railroad, and in 1920 he was a laborer performing construction work.
It appears that Nicodem was naturalized a U.S. citizen between 1900 and 1910.
The family lived in the “Kuschwantz” neighborhood of Toledo and in all likelihood belonged to St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Polish Church, 1416 Nebraska Ave, Toledo, OH(present day zip code) 43607.
