Johann Elias, Philip -1715, Ireland, 1709 Holland (Palatines)
Record shows Johann Elias Sohn at Holland among Palatines in 1709 or so, then in Ireland 13 JUL 1715, a Lutheran and a joiner by trade.
Second is of Philip Son also at Hollnad in 1709 and then in Ireland (County Limerick) by 1715 as head of a German Family. These may be brothers.Elias name appears in later generations .Philip was a vinedresser and Reformed church.
It is generally believed the name corrupted to St. John by at the latest 1790, where Philip St. John married Ann Dolmage in 1784.His sons were likely George and Philip born in the 1790s and emmigrating to New York, then Ontario about 1820.
George's son Tobias St. John born in 1830 is my G-grandfather.Other names associated to them and among the Palatines include Switzer, White, Shier.
American Genealogist Fellow Hank Jones has Sohn family as from Dietenhausen, GER where Philip Sohn married Anna Catherine Kuhn 24 JUL 1709.
If anyone has any of them in their data, I would like to know more.
Thanks,
Dan Fetters
