My great grandfather 'Henry' was a marble carver in Italy and moved to Vermont in 1903 to work. His children were born in Vermont and from there to California. His parents (and basically entire family) seemed to all stay in Carrara. I'm wondering if that isn't common in Italy...for familys to all stay in one area for centuries at a time? Good luck in your searches.
