Sompayrac Family in Jacksonville, FL
Posted by: Ed Akers Date: March 18, 2001 at 20:08:19

I purchased a home recently in Jacksonville, Florida that was originally built for a Sompayrac family. The home was near Downtown Jacksonville, in the originally settled area called Springfield. The home was built, as far as I can tell, in 1899 and was located at 1406 Market STreet at the corner of Market and 2nd Street East. At some later time the street numbers were changed and the new address became 1206 Market Street to reflect the 2nd street cross street.

I am trying to find old pictures of the home and familiy as I am restoring the wonderful old home. Also from my records, I found that the Sompayrac family ran a grocery store along Bay Street in Jacksonville down near the water.

Can you help?
