Sherri, The Civil war veteran you speak of is August "Justus " Sontag born in 1821, brother to John Adam Sontag. This is the same Justus that is married to Anna Catherine Hoiss that I wrote you back about earlier. The Sontag family liked the name of Justus, and the nickname of "Justus" for more than one of thier family members, you are correct our Justus was too young to have served in the Civil War, it was his Uncle August-nickname Justus who served. Our Justus Sontag was born Jan. 30, 1855 and died on June 10, 1928, buried June 12, 1928. Our family still recylcle's same names today, I have have 4 Terry's on my immediate side, a brother, a nephew, my husband and son, then on my husband side he has a cousin with the exact name of his who is just 5 years younger than him and he too lives in Jefferson county. Hope I have cleared the air a little more. Clara
