Heinrich (Hend'k)Sontag arrived in Philadelphia Oct 2, 1741 on the St Andrew
captained by Charles Stedman. Off the top of my head his children include Henry & Christopher & a couple
dau. that both died young. He was one of 50 that petitioned for the township of Weisenberg to be formed
(in Northhampton Co). He took outland warrants in 1747 1748 and 1750. He attended the Allemangel Church. And one of the other members of that church, George Haal, crossed the ocean with him in 1741. George's dau. Maria Anna married Hend'k's son Henry. Neither Hend'k or George
listed on the ship record where they were from.
So I have not found out Hend'k's parentage.
I do have a hunch he may have been the son of a Jacob Sontag and Catarina, who came to America in the 1730s.
They arr. with two sons Jacob and John, I think in '37.
John is the younger of the 2 and is under 16. Hendk would have been in his 20s when they came. And perhaps he followed them when he had the funds. I think the parents
may have lived in Philadelphia. Jacob was married in Phili
then he and John settled in Paradise twp. York Co. (I think
its them - Jacob's wfs name is the same as in Phili)
Anyway, I have no proof, but after Hendk dies Henry moves to Paradise, two farms away from Jacob and John on land I
think was 1st applied for by Jacob Sontag and Geo Stevenson. Maybe its just a coincidence, but Henry moved
a long way away from his brother Christopher and I can't
think of why he chose that spot unless perhaps his uncles were there.
How are you related? PS This is off the top of my head so it may not be perfect info
