My research indicates that Yoost came to America as an employee of Dutch East/West Indies Co. Some stories say as a captain, but if so he didn't stay a captain. He Married sarah Van Tienhoven in NYC, went to Middletown NJ, then To the Mullica River area settling in the Green Bank/Lower Bank NJ area. Had Three sons, Yoost/Joseph, Nicholas, & Luke. Most stories & data say Luke died young, but I've found some items during the past year that may dispute that. I've found no record of Sooy name in Holland/Netherlands. I suspect it was possibly a French or Flemish name that was altered. A lot of French/Flemish migrated to Holland because of religion. The dates work out that Yoost could have been born to Huganot parents in Holland. Still plenty to prove Have fun.
