Thank you for replying to my message. According to my father, Andrew Mack Cockerham, he was the only son of Laura South and Monroe Cockerham.
Andrew was born in 1898 and his mother, Laura, died about a year after his birth. His father took him back to North Carolina where he was raised by his grandparents, Hugh and Mary Cockerham. He never knew any of his South ancestors. I believe that Laura, who's parents were Clark South and Fidelia Norman is his mother.
My problem is this, another genealogist lists a Monroe Cockerham, born to them in 1917 and died in 1995 in East Bend, North Carolina as their only, if that is true, then they can't be my father's parent's, because my grandfather, Monroe Cockerham, after Laura's death, married a Rena Evans and had six more children and then died in 1919.
The Monroe listed as their son is legit, I got his social security number from the SS Death Index, which gives his last known address as Yadkin Co., N.C.
I am new at research, but I am trying hard to find more information on Monroe Cockerham of Yadkin Co.
Andrew Married Annie Reed and they had six children, of which I am the youngest.
