David, Thanks for the census record. James M. must be James Monroe Cockerham, although I never heard him referred to as James. I have a census done in 1890 of Hughs household, it lists James M. as son and Andrew (2yrs old) as grandson. Laura had died and my grandfather Monroe and my father Andrew Cockerham were living with my great grandfather, Hugh. I have documents that show Hugh Cockerham b. in 1844,that would have made him 36 in 1880. Thanks for the not too much confidence vote on Monroe Cockerham b.1917. I still would like to know who he is.
